Magnotherapy is a specific form of alternative treatment now becoming more popular for use among animals. The treatment uses magnetic fields to accelerate the healing of an injury and to reduce any pain in diseased or damaged joints. Currently used by humans to decrease the suffering caused by such things as arthritis and rheumatism, it is now becoming more commonly applied by dog owners. In the instance of bipolar, the magnet is alternately north-south polarity on the same surface. The practitioners believe unipolar magnets exhibit greater penetration. They, therefore, use them more in magnotherapy.
Before you decide to apply magnotherapy to your pet problem, be sure you know what you are doing. There is a right way and a wrong way to use this treatment. If you fail to follow directions
or do not heed an expert practitioner, your animal may not be able to reap the benefits from this treatment.
In using magnotherapy, remember there are specific time frames to consider. If you leave the magnets on for less than 15 minutes, it will not be effective. If you allow the magnets to remain in place for too long, you may reverse the effect and undo any progress you may have made. There are also other factors you must consider when you decide to treat your dog.
Never use magnotherapy on a pregnant animal. If you are going to subject an older dog or one who is very ill to magnotherapy, consult with your Veterinarian first. Lastly, remember, some forms of alternative medicine may work better in conjunction with other forms of traditional and even non-traditional therapy.
You should have little problem locating magnotherapy products suitable for your pet. These come in different forms and shapes. You can purchase magnotherapy collars. Collars come in both in chain links or in solid types. Some collars combine copper with magnets to achieve maximum success. There are also magnetic therapy mattress pads and blankets. You can also purchase magnotherapy items such as vests, dog coats, boots and pads. This provides you with sufficient choice when it comes to helping your dog become healthier, improving his or her quality of life.
