Decorating your home is often a topic of dread to most people, it's not the painting or hanging of wallpaper that's the biggest problem, it's figuring out where to move all your furniture so as not to get it covered in paint or dust.
I recently redecorated my North London home and like many other people, I was dreading covering and moving all of my possessions. A friend suggested I put it into storage, before telling me that there was no way my sofas were going to his place, but he'd gladly take care of my TV and games console.
Grateful as I was for his offer, I decided to look into his storage suggestion as I don't have a garage and I only had friends who were interested in 'looking after' my electronics - no one would take the furniture, so I decided to investigate self storage nearby in Edmonton.
I wasn't hopeful about it - I've always thought it would be expensive and decided that if the price was too steep, I'd just bite the bullet and move things around while decorating. With that in mind, half resigned to having dust sheets over all my things for the next few weeks, I booted
up the PC and typed Storage Edmonton into the search engine. After clicking the 'pages from the UK' switch to avoid results from Canada, I found a surprising number of providers.
I've lived here for a while now and have never noticed the Edmonton storage company, but the internet told me that there it was just a couple of minutes away from my house! After visiting the storage centre's website, I found that the prices were far lower than I was expecting and that they would even come and pick my things up or lend me a van to drop it off myself. This was sounding much more convenient than I was expecting.
The whole process was very easy: I had my furniture stored quickly and safely for a very reasonable price, which made decorating take literally half the time.
It really was a no brainer given the low price and if I ever decide to decorate the house again or if I'm going travelling for a long time, I am now safe in the knowledge that my furniture will be well taken care of for a reasonable price. The only question would be which of my friends to let 'look after' my games console.
