I want to share with you a sales letter template that you can use if your first sales letter or sales email does not get your prospect to express interest in who you are or what you do. This is a model I've used for many years and I have found that it will increase my overall response by up to 25%.

Remember the key when doing any type of marketing, whether it be hard copy sales letters or emails, that persistence is king. Do not be afraid of alienating your prospects. The reality is that most sales letters and marketing emails simply get ignored. Although in an ideal world it would be great if each of your letters immediately made your reader to say, "Yes this is something I want to learn more about." the reality is that there is just too much clutter out there. Too many marketing messages competing for the same share of mind.

When a prospect does not respond to the first letter I send them, this is the one that I follow up with between seven to ten days later.

Dear (Prospect), Back in (month) I sent you a letter offering you a copy of our free report (name of free report).

Amid all the mail you get on a typical day, perhaps my letter got overlooked or maybe you were just too busy at the time to respond. However, since we specialize in working with (their industry group) such as yours, I wanted to write you again. I firmly believe that the information in the report will be

particularly valuable to you.

Now I realize that the topic of (your subject) may not excite you. However, I'll bet that reducing (specific benefits) are all very important to you. (name of report) will take you less than 15 minutes to read and I guarantee it will stimulate your thinking about:

(In this next section you want to list three to five specific benefits that readers will get by requesting your free report.)

At (name of your company) we assist (companies in this particular industry) achieve outstanding business results by (doing something specific). Clients commend us for our willingness to dig deep and fully understand their specific business challenges before we offer any sort of recommendation or potential solution.

We know that at the end of the day, what you care about most, are solutions to the most vexing business problems you face. We believe that (your area of expertise) will help you achieve your goals, but that first and foremost the business problem must be clearly understood.

Even if you're completely satisfied with (a particular area that might need improvement), I guarantee that you will find some useful and profitable information in this report. Again the report is free and you can receive your copy by visiting our website (name of website) or calling us at (phone number).

I look forward to hearing from you. Best Regards,

What makes this letter particularly powerful is that it references the earlier letter that you sent. That can often evoke a small amount of guilt with the result that this second letter actually gets read and acted upon.
