You may hear about celebrities, musicians and artists selling out for short-term gain. How many famous tunes are now cheesy television commercials? When it comes to your dating life, do you sell-out on yourself just to find someone to spend time with?
I hear so many women and men complain to me that they do not want to be alone. They have their ideal partner in the mind but always settle for less when they meet someone. Making dating decisions based on neediness and desperation to fill a void will only make them more miserable.
The problem is that when you are dating online or at a singles event, you have so many opportunities to meet someone that the chances of falling for Mr. Wrong or Ms. Wrong are great if you do not stick to your guns. You have an internal nudge that speaks to you and guides you to the right people, but that true message is often drowned out by the anxious voice who just does not want to be single another day.
I remember when this happened to me. I was in my late thirties and had attracted many men into my life after I did my hypnosis training. I
felt really good about myself and the change in my social life was amazing. Unfortunately, I was not clear on what I wanted and was swayed by the instant gratification of Mr. Right Now. I sold out my dream of an amazing relationship just so I can enjoy this man's temporary company.
It did not take long until I realized what was really going on and I decided to get out of the dead-end affair. I made a commitment to take care of myself and wait for the ultimate guy no matter how many lonely weekends I had to face. Turns out that when I finally stood my ground, my love showed up just two weeks later.
Think about your past dating history. If you have settled for second best in the past, ask yourself why. Everyone has their personal reason for their actions and, if you can get to the root of your behavior, you can transform your romantic life by changing your actions.
No matter how much personal growth work you do on the inside, you also need to make conscious decisions that are in alignment with your goals. Do not be a sell-out, you are too precious for that.
