Having an opt-in page can be a great method to add to your Internet Marketing income stream.

However, is your opt-in page getting you enough subscribers or are you missing out on valuable opt-ins?

There are proven strategies for increasing your opt-in rates. The more of these strategies that you implement the more opt-ins you will receive. It really is that simple.

Here is a guide outlining the most important means of having an effective opt-in page.

1. Creating urgency is very important in getting people to opt-in. Putting a time limit on how long your subscription offer will last will cause you to receive more opt-ins.

Creating a rush to subscribe will increase your rate.

2. Do not have external links on your opt-in page. The sole purpose of an opt-in page is to get people to opt-in.

Do not have any external links or any advertising on the page. We live in the Entertainment Age not the Information Age as we are lead to believe.

As a result, peoples attention spans have become shorter. Using external links is distracting and can deter people from your purpose, that is getting opt-ins.

3. It is very important that you have a privacy policy in place for subscribers. No one wants their email address farmed out or rented to people whom they havent opted in for.

Renting out your list to other subscribers is a breach of trust between you and your list. People only opt-in for your service, they

have not opted in for third parties services.

Treat your subscribers with respect and in doing so you will create a wonderful relationship with people on your list.

4. Only ask for the bare essentials on your opt-in page. Do not ask for pointless and unnecessary information.

All you need is there first name and their primary email address. Asking for a case history on people is completely needless and off-putting.

If they have opted-in you know that they are interested, this is the only piece of marketing information you need to know besides their name and email address.

Trying to know more than this is just being nosy.

5. Always have two opt-in boxes on your opt-in page. Position one at the top and one at the very end.

This way you will increase your chances of getting more subscribers. I would be very hesitant about using opt-in boxes that follow you as you scroll down the page.

If at all possible, use a large graphical opt-in box at the top of the page. These give better results than your standard opt-in box.

6. Personalise the page. Include a photo of yourself and contact details. This will maximise your subscription rate.

Put the above into practice and you will have a great opt-in page that will get you surprising results.

Remember the best practice is to see if your opt-in page would cause you to opt-in. Seeing it from the visitors perspective will allow you to optimise your page.
