However, many people fall into the trap of being over-reliant on one strategy for earning money. This can be very successful initially.

In fact, many people successfully make millions from just doing one thing exceptionally well. However, there are dangers to this and one is of course that things change over time.

The problem of just having one strategy is the nature of the Internet. Everything changes so rapidly. This is also a brilliant thing as opportunities present themselves on a daily basis.

There are and always will be a limitless supply of good ideas. The Internet represents a great way to give these ideas a concrete form.

Here are some of the reasons why plurality of ideas and income is a sure fire way to becoming a successful Internet Marketer.

1. Having a diverse, related portfolio is a great way of tapping into the full potential of the internet market.

An extensive portfolio caters for a wide array of people. It also makes sure that you are not over-reliant on having one product. Having just one product can be costly.

Even if that product is brilliant and has gotten a great response, you are still putting all your eggs in one basket. By doing so, you are surrendering control over part of your market.

2. Have multiple ways of earning income from your websites. If any method fails you will have more than enough streams of income to compensate for



your losses.

As already stated above, the internet is an ever changing medium. What is the latest, greatest thing today may be past it tomorrow. Always keep this in mind and plan accordingly.

3. If your websites are blogs, always have multiple forms of earning income. Have affiliate products, promote affiliate products, have different types of advertising, use membership subscriptions. The point once again is to have many ways of gathering money.

4. Diversifying also means that you don't trap yourself into a corner. Like in Hollywood, being typecast can also occur in internet marketing.

If someone is only noted for being a search engine specialist it becomes difficult for him or her to become a specialist in sales letters for example.

If you become pigeon-holed it becomes difficult to broaden your horizons. You can avoid all this by spreading out your areas of expertise.

5. Having a diverse range of specialities also ensures that if demand for one of your areas drops you can easily adapt and put more of your efforts into other areas.

This gives you the flexibility to succeed in any given market. Over-reliance on one given area means that you lose the ability to adapt to market conditions.

This article has outlined just some of the reasons why you should diversify. Market conditions can change at any time, often without notice. Being in a position to adapt puts you in the best possible position to deal with the rapidly changing nature of the internet. Diversify your online portfolio and you will be a successful marketer in any market.
