You probably know a handful of reasons why you should buy resin chairs. You know that they are affordable, lightweight and waterproof, but beyond that, do they really stack up to the advantages of wood and metal furniture? The answer may surprise you. Resin as a material has some very interesting and unique characteristics not available in the more traditional and natural building materials.
#1: Plastic furniture is on the forefront of modern furniture design
Since its heyday in the 1960s modern movement, plastic furniture has been a favored medium by furniture designers. Resin chairs are extremely malleable and so they're ideal for experimenting with new designs and shapes. Wood and metal are not as easy to work with in this respect, and also connote more of a traditional air, whereas plastics appear more modern.

You know that they are lightweight, but you probably didn't think about size and shape when it comes to moving and storing your resin chairs. At worst, even if you cannot compact its size, plastic furniture takes up less room than other patio furniture in general.
#5: Plastics are comfortable
Though it may not seem like it, resin chairs can be some of the most comfortable around. That's because they, for one, can be molded into supportive and ergonomic forms. Second, plastics are slightly more flexible than immoveable wood or metal. And you always have the option of bringing in seat cushions for added comfort.
#6: Plastic is good for the environment
This claim might seem like it's got things backwards, but in fact resin chairs are better for the earth in some respects than both metal and wood. For one thing, plastic is a manmade, renewable resource. Wood, on the other hand, comes from trees that require concerted replanting efforts, and logging is detrimental to both the land and animal habitats. Also, resin chairs are 100 percent recyclable, so they never need see the inside of a landfill.
Though wood and metal are revered for many good reasons, they stand steeped in tradition. Resin chairs have and will continue to be a top choice for homeowners and as design and needs change, plastic will be there at the forefront to help things along.
