The Lotus Elise was first introduced in 1996 by Lotus Cars of England. With speeds capable of reaching 150 miles per hour, the Elise is a lightweight car that gets a lot out of the 1.8liter engine under the hood. Named after former Lotus chairman Romano Artioli's granddaughter, Elisa, the Lotus Elise is a firecracker on the road despite its light weight and small engine. The Elise can accelerate from 0 to 60 in about 5 seconds, with later models slightly faster, reaching 60mph in 4 seconds.

The most attention grabbing aspect of the Lotus Elise is the look of the car. Not only does this car handle like a racecar, it looks like one too. A sleek, low profile design makes the Elise look like it is already in motion, with a body type that just makes you want to have one. The Lotus Elise is a rarely seen yet sought after import. A new Lotus Elise will cost you around $50,000, depending on the package you choose. (hard top, soft top, etc.) This is clearly an incredibly expensive car to purchase. Not everyone has the deep pockets to purchase such an expensive vehicle but that doesn't mean they

shouldn't have the opportunity to drive one.

There are only a handful of Lotus dealerships in the United States. Lotus website lets you choose your features and colors and bring your printout to your nearest dealer (if there is even one in your state) but let's face it. Who even has an extra $50,000 lying around? And of course with new cars there is the full coverage insurance and gas (although the Elise gets ok mileage, 20-26mpg). No, the Lotus is one of those status symbols that we would love to be in but just cannot find or afford.

If you are traveling to Las Vegas, there are exotic car rental companies that have a Lotus Elise waiting for you to drive today. Fully licensed, bonded, and insured, these cars and trucks are new, meticulously maintained, and guaranteed to turn heads on the Las Vegas Strip. The 2009 Lotus Elise currently rents for about $230 a day, under $200 a day when you rent for three days and less than $170 a day when you rent for a week. Those prices are ridiculously low compared to the sticker price. Imagine rolling down Las Vegas Boulevard in a shiny black 2009 Lotus Elise.
