When looking at bike insurance, there are many things to take into consideration to ensure that the right type of insurance is found to suit the individual. Most insurance companies offer different levels of cover, however, these will range in price and what is included.

The more common types of insurance types to choose from are fully comprehensive, third party fire and theft and third party only. The most popular option for many tends to be fully comprehensive as it has the most features included, making it the most expensive as well. This type of insurance is often recommended for those who have bikes that are reasonably new and are of a high value to the owner.

For those who ride everyday, fully comprehensive is the best type of insurance to have as it covers the owner for damage carried out to the bike if it was involved in an accident and also any repairs that may need doing to it. Furthermore, fully comprehensive cover also protects you if your bike has been stolen and for any third parties who may have also been involved in an accident that the owner was in. Although fully comprehensive insurance covers the owner for everything, it may be quite expensive and therefore may not suit everyone.

Third party, fire and theft is the middle type of insurance cover that is available for riders and includes being covered for anybody who was involved in an accident that the owner was involved in. It also covers the owner for the loss

of the bike through a fire or the theft of the bike. Although it covers any third parties and their vehicles who were involved in the same accident, it does not cover the policy holder, therefore any repairs which need doing to the car will have to be paid for by the owner themselves and not through their insurance company, which maybe quite costly.

The lowest type of bike insurance is third party only, which is the very basic and the cheapest form of insurance. As mentioned above, this only covers other people who were involved in the accident with the policy holder. However, for damages or loss of the car the policy holder is not the insurance companys responsibility, which as a result may become quite costly. However, if the car was old, then some people do chose this type of insurance rather than pay out for a large insurance premium that may even be worth more than the car itself.

When choosing bike insurance, it is very much down to individual choice as to what is the most suitable form of cover. One thing which should play a role in this decision is the value of the car, as getting the very basic type of bike insurance may be detrimental to how much they may have to pay towards any repairs it may need. Therefore, it can be argued that although fully comprehensive cover may be expensive initially, in the long run it might be the cheapest option as you are covered for any unexpected eventualities.
