The need for some form of insurance is prominent throughout most peoples lives. Whether it is a policy that is required by law, or simply one that is highly recommended for a variety of reasons, it is always advised to take out the most appropriate and affordable insurance policies for your individual circumstances.
Life Insurance. For the majority of people, life insurance can be seen as a necessity, although there is no law that stipulates a policy must be held. In essence, life insurance cover provides the policy holders next of kin with a certain amount of money in the event that the policy holder dies.
It is often said that whilst life insurance cannot bring the policy holder back, it can help considerably with money issues, such as funeral costs and ease the financial burden that may be apparent in joint mortgages, credit cards or other outstanding debts.
Health Insurance. Similarly, health care insurance is not required by law, particularly due to offering of the National Health Service in the UK, but is chosen by many people irrelevantly.
It is widely seen that private health care has substantial benefits of the free health care provided by the government, with the only down fall being the cost. However, many people consider this to be extraneous when the benefits are taken into consideration.
It is worthwhile noting that if you work for a large private company, they may have an agreement in place with a private health insurance company and this can usually be taken advantage of.
Vehicle Insurance.
The only insurance that is required by law is vehicle insurance and regardless of the vehicle, whether it is a car, motorcycle or scooter, the owner must have some form of insurance in place before taking the vehicle out on a public road.
Prices for vehicle insurance can range considerably and are affected by both the policy owner and the actual vehicle. For example, if motorcycle insurance was required, the premiums would be massively effected if the rider was 17 and had only recently past their test, but was trying insure a 3.0 litre engine motorcycle that cost 20,000 pounds. The reason behind this is that due to their inexperience and the power of the motorcycle, the insurance company would consider them to be high risk and therefore there is more chance of them having to pay out to cover costs.
Unique Insurances. Not many people consider unique or individual insurances, but if you are in an occupation where your main income relies on a certain part of your body, then it is highly recommended to get the part insured.
A prime example is a professional footballer. If something was to happen to their legs and it rendered them incapable of playing football, they would suffer a distinct loss of earnings and therefore would not be able to provide for themselves or their family. By insuring their legs, they can ensure that they will receive a sum of money that would help them financially until they were able to recover and look for a new source of income.
