It doesn't seem to matter what service a customer is paying for, because the first question they ask is almost always the same, "How much does it cost?", and courier services are now different. Every time someone contacts a courier for the first time there are several questions that come along, but one of the most consistent is the question of cost, which is totally understandable. Everyone is trying to make ends meet, especially in this difficult economic time, and businesses and individuals alike are all out to make sure that they get the best value possible for their hard earned dollars. However, there is no easy answer to the cost question when it comes to package delivery, because these are assessed on a shifting basis which moves based on the particulars of any given delivery. The distance, the weight of the shipment, and the speed at which the customer wishes to have the delivery completed will all impact the final cost which will be provided.

Every courier company has several different delivery options, and these certainly impact cost a great deal. The most affordable type of courier service is almost exclusively a scheduled pickup route. This is when a

business needs to have a delivery made on a regular basis, and so schedules the courier company ahead of time to always come at the designated time to make the pickup. This allows the courier company to be as efficient as possible in their route planning and pickup and delivery schedules, saving them, and you, money. Choosing a generic next day service where you are happy with the package being delivered at any time as long it is the next day is an example of a service that would cost slightly more, but still not be too expensive since they can schedule the delivery anwhere amidst the next day's deliveries.

The average courier will have several different steps and options between next day and rush, but rush is always the most expensive type of courier service, although it might sometimes be called emergency, or point to point delivery. This means that a single vehicle will be dispatched immediately to come pickup your package and take it right away to where it needs to go. This will be pricier than other options, but it will also be the fastest possible way for you to get your shipment to your customer.
