It doesn't matter how experienced, skilled, or cautious a driver is, if they are on the road long enough there is a good chance that they are going to be in a traffic accident sooner or later. There are simply too many variable involved when someone is one the road, and it becomes almost impossible to completely account for all of them, even when the driver is very good at driving defensively. Because of this, even professional courier drivers who work for a Dallas courier service may find themselves in an accident from time to time. The problem with this is that when carrying a large load of cargo which belongs to the companies shipping with the courier, there are liability issues involved. This is why courier companies always carry courier insurance which will protect the value of the goods which are being shipped in the event that they are damaged in a vehicle collision or other kind of traffic accident.

This risk of accidents is one of the reasons that courier companies are so careful about making sure that all of your documentation is filled out accurately before they actually take possession of your cargo. Knowing the accurate weight of your package, for example, lets

them load the vehicles in such a way as to make sure they are as safe as possible. Knowing the accurate value of your shipment is essential for calculating any insurance claims which may need to be processed if the shipment is damaged in an accident.

As someone shipping with a courier company, you have another responsibility as well. Packing your items correctly to protect them from damage is your responsibility, and if you have packed incorrectly you may not receive insurance coverage even in the case of an accident, an important fact to be aware of.

There are obviously different degrees of traffic accidents which can happen. A mild fender bender might incapacitate the courier vehicle but might leave your packages totally unharmed. If this happens, a replacement vehicle will be sent out to take the packages and try and deliver them with as little disruption as possible to the service the company is offering. In the event of a more serious traffic accident the courier company will be contacting everyone who was shipping on the vehicle involved in the accident and letting them know about the damage (if any) to their packages and about how to move forward in the claims process.
