It is unavoidable at times that you are going to need to use the storage services offered by your courier company before it is time to send your shipment on to its final destination. However, storage is something that many people agree too without really thinking about the facilities that courier services might have available to them. One of the most important things to think about is whether or not your courier company has access to temperature controlled warehouses. Many people dismiss this out of hand thinking that they are storing products which do not have to be kept at a constant temperature throughout the shipping process, but they fail to take into account how long the items may be sitting in storage, and how extreme temperatures can get in a non temperature controlled facility. That is why you should always ask if a warehouse does have controllable environments and temperatures before you agree to store any of your goods there.

The thing that most people overlook is just how extreme the temperatures can get inside buildings of certain construction. Many people have placed items in storage thinking that they would be just fine only to realize afterwards that they have many items which have

been damaged by prolonged exposure to intense heat. There are obviously items which this isn't going to be a factor for, such as those which are just made out of metal, or glass, but anything which has any plastic in it should certainly only be stored in a facility which can at least be kept moderately cool. The good news is that many of the courier companies which offer storage are now moving to newer facilities or upgrading older ones in order to be sure that their client's goods are being stored at an acceptable temperature.

However, just because you've found a courier company that offers temperature controlled warehouses, don't assume that all your problems are solved and that your product will be fine. Many of these companies require you to request a temperature change if their default change is unacceptable to you, and even worse, some will charge you based on the temperature that you require them to keep your storage unit at. Be sure to investigate any surcharges such as a fee for having your goods stored in the air conditioned portion of a warehouse before you request this kind of service, otherwise you can find yourself with a very unexpected bill.
