I suggest that the first thing any newcomer to marketing a service business on the internet does is start a blog and start submitting articles for publication. That almost always causes my clients to ask what they should write about or tell me that they don't consider themselves a writer.

Take a few simple steps to begin writing great content. Writing content for the internet is fun and easy if you just approach it in steps and learn a few steps at a time. In this article I will teach you a few steps to begin the writing process.

Set the Mood
When you sit down to write your content turn off and put away all possible distractions. Close your email and if you have one of those email notification bells or pop ups set then turn it off. I even turn off the any music so that I don't tune into the lyrics instead of what I am writing about.

Write when you have the most focus and inspiration. For me the morning is best because I am a morning person but form many people writing in the evening is when they are most focused and creative. Pay attention to the time of day that works best for you and if all else fails just start writing. Be deliberate about making time to write because it is an important part of your marketing

and business.

Cheat Sheets and Swipe Files

Almost nothing is totally original so don't feel like you have to write about original ideas exclusively. I have a file set in my email for things I get from other people that I think will give me ideas for writing my own content. Sometime I just get an idea from something someone sends me and sometimes I like their ideas and I add my knowledge and experience to them then re-write them and make them my own.

Keep a notepad or a recorder around so you can jot down ideas when you are on the go. I always get ideas when I am at seminars or listening to others on teleseminars and webinars. I keep a recorder handy so I can take a note when I have an inspiration.

Last, I keep a swipe file where I put all the articles that I find from other authors that have concepts or ideas that I find interesting. I often look back through those articles and gather ideas from several of them to create my own content.

Use the content from other authors for ideas and change the general idea by putting it into your own words and adding to the basic thoughts. The truth is there is not much origional information these days with the internet but when you write it with your own style it becomes yours and unique.
