If your home is flooded because of plumbing issues, it could not be as tragic as a flood made by Mother Nature, but it may still damage hardwood floors and other possessions in our home. Getting the water up as soon as possible is the most essential thing. The less time the wood is completely soaked with water, the better.

The first thing you should do is get the electricity and water off when you discover you have flooding taking place. It is important to phone your insurance company as soon as possible. If a house is flooded due to plumbing disasters it is usually covered by your home owners insurance. Your insurance agent should tell you what to do next as far as engaging someone to perform the clean up and someone to do the repairs that may be needed.

While you are waiting for help to show up, you should do all you can to proceed in getting out articles that are becoming affected by the water. When you have two floors in your home, many small possessions could be put up stairs when the water is only on the first floor. Bigger furniture could need to be moved outside, if necessary. Water could hurt the legs of the furniture if they are left in it for a long time. Providing the water is not too deep, proceed to sweep or make use of a wet/dry vacuum to get up all of it you can. Wet/dry vacuums are very handy for situations like this.

Hopefully you will ask about a company's reputation before you call them, but because it was an emergency, you could not have. If you did not, now is the time. You want to inquire about procedures and what their fees are before they begin work. If everything is alright and you are satisfied, let them proceed.

Hard wood floors might be expensive to replace, but when the water has not been on the floors long enough to create swelling, they might be saved. The less amount of money it cost an insurance company, the better they like it. Besides the cost, the burden of having any floors entirely replaced might take days or weeks for taking them up and replacement time.

There are new methods of drying hard wood floors that some specialists are applying to save them. The largest part of the flood water may be removed and what is left in the wood is gotten out gradually to reduce the chances of cupping or warping by using vacuum panels on the floor. Dehumidifiers that use HEPA filters systems are used to extract dampness from the air and keep it clean. Using this method will likely save your existing hard wood floors and is a much smarter solution.
