When you're shipping with courier companies on a regular basis, you might occasionally hear about a service that you're unclear about. When you ship with a courier company they might send you either physical mail or emails about their services. So, when an Omaha courier service tells you that they offer you emergency courier service, you might not know what that means exactly.

It is important to note that there are really two different types of emergency courier service. The first is usually a part of what might be deemed a medical courier. The second would be a corporate courier that is set up to accommodate what would be termed a "business" emergency.

Medical couriers are companies that have the special equipment and are licensed to move medical goods. This is not something that just any company can do. Sometimes, there are medical emergencies which require goods to be transported as fast as possible. When this happens, these couriers can move drugs, blood, or medical specimens in order to help the doctors complete whatever it is they need to get done.

A business emergency courier is different. This is a regular courier company that might have vehicles which are especially dedicated to

move products or shipments on a rush basis when someone puts in an emergency order. This means that they will come straight from the courier's office to make the pickup as fast as possible. Then, they will take the package to its destination as fast as possible, hopefully in time to meet the crisis need that created the emergency.

When a courier company offers this service, usually what they will do is have a portion of their fleet which is totally dedicated to making emergency deliveries. If they didn't do this, when you tried to request an emergency delivery, you would have to wait for another vehicle to be cleared of its deliveries before it could come make yours, something that really wouldn't provide that fast of a delivery at all.

If you need to use an emergency courier service you do need to be aware that it is going to cost more than your typical courier service. That is because a courier usually makes most of their money by having several people ship packages with the same vehicle. They will charge you a premium rate for getting what amounts to the dedicated use of one of their employees and their vehicles.
