Things can go wrong when you're shipping things. This is an unavoidable fact. Packages get damaged, lost, or delivered to the wrong address. It can be surprising though, to realize how many of these mistakes get caused by the client rather than the courier company. If you were to ask an Omaha courier company why the majority of their packages get lost, you might be surprised to know how many get sent to the wrong address because the package was labeled incorrectly.

This usually results in a few things happening. The courier will usually deliver the package to the correct address, if it is actually a valid street address. Then, they will realize that there is no one of the correct name of the location and will have to return with the package undelivered. Of course, if the address isn't valid they may realize this sooner, but the point is that the trip is still wasted.

In these situations, it is usually for the courier company to charge you a fee for the mislabeled package. That is primarily because the package is still taking up room in their vehicle, and is going to have to be returned to you, taking up time of

their employees. This is why it's more important to spend time avoiding this situation rather than worrying about what happens when it takes place.

With all the tools that are available to you now with the modern courier software that most courier companies have put in place, there is no real reason to still have packages mislabeled. The next time you talk to your courier company, you should be sure to ask them about what software you have available to you on your account. This might help reduce the rest of your labeling mistakes.

An online address book for example, can be a very useful feature. These combined with some shipping portals will let you place an order with just a few clicks, not even giving you a chance to mislabel a package. You can also easily print correct shipping labels with a few clicks.

Address verification is also a useful tool to use to make sure that you're shipping your package to a valid US address. When you use this tool, it will check to make sure that the street address you provide combines with the ZIP code to form a real US address. That helps eliminate a lot of the mistakes.
