Building your own house may be expensive but it is something to do that is fun, challenging and equally fulfilling. Then once the house is built, we go to each room and design them carefully so that they come out as what we have visualized in our dreams and imagination. In designing the room every one wants to have a room that is comparable to the rich and famous, or at least, the ones we see on television during commercial breaks or during our favorite TV series. The sad part is, not everyone can afford to hire a camera crew to film the house, and not every one is rich and famous. But before you get discouraged, you should know that every one can have a beautiful stylish room as long as they apply proper interior design and follow the tips.
The focal point in your room should be the first thing that you should be working on. The focal point is the main feature of the room, in other words, when you open your door and get inside your room, it should be the most eye-catching piece in your room or the first thing that would grab your attention. Examples are a large pretty picture, perhaps a portrait of you, or a large window would do. If you do not have a focal point, then you can add one such as an attractive cabinet, a pretty book shelf, cabinet, table, or
a unique and interesting mirror.
Choose coordinating patterns and colors when you are in the process of buying wallpapers and fabrics for your room. This will give your room that complete look, and it will look very professional. Match the patterns in different sizes like big, medium, or small, but see to it that it is not overdone. Textured fabric adds element and style in your room, and make sure that the patterns and colors you have chosen are the ones you like and are pleasing to the eye.
Though it is important for the style of your room to match, take note that sometimes, if the whole room has the same exact style then it could come out as boring. Try to make it more exciting by diversifying in one or two parts of your room. For example, if you have built a traditional room, then put a modern coffee table in the middle of it. This can make your room more interesting, and in this case traditional, but modern.
Sometimes it is also fun to change the style of your room depending on the season. What you can replace every time season changes are your pillow covers, your drapes, and your centerpieces.
Whatever you decide on what to do with your room make sure that you will have fun doing it and follow these tips. Surely you will be very satisfied and you will find yourself spending so much time admiring it.
