If you are planning selling your home soon then you are probably a little worried if not downright horrified of selling in the current housing market. The last year and a half have seen the worst recession in the housing market in literally almost half a century. Because the market is down there are a lot of homes on the market which means that those looking to buy have a lot of choices and alternatives. For this reason it is important to make your home as appealing as possible so that it stands out in the crowded market. This article will explain some of the more simple things you can do to make your home sell.

First of all it is imperative that your home is looking its best on the outside. If your home is painted then apply a fresh coat of paint. If your home is vinyl siding or brick then power wash the outside. You will be amazed at how much dirt and dust will come off the exterior of your home making it look more vibrant in comparison to the other homes on the block. If you have not gone out to work in the yard for a while

then find your work gloves and get out there. Mow the lawn and make sure it is in tip top shape. This will be a major selling point especially for those with children. If your lawn has bare spots buy some grass seed and water it often to try and fill them in. this is a small thing but can make a big difference.

If the interior of the home has been occupied by smokers then you have to get the smell out. Any realtor will tell you that a home with smoke smell is nearly impossible to sell. Painting is usually the only way to get smoke and tar stains out of the walls. This may seem like a lot of work to paint the house but is well worth it.

Next is to make sure and clean in every nook and cranny. Pull out the refrigerator and clean behind it. Cleaning in every possible space that you can does two things. One it will reduce the possibility that potential buyers will see the mess but it will also reduce any smells which may influence a buying decision. Use a lot of cleaners and make sure to get rid of all molds.
