There seems to be different models of marine pumps for every size dock and every size water body, no matter where on the planet that place might be. Some are pretty small and are used mainly in private areas, and others are massive and can be found in giant docking areas to be used by boat owners and operators with vessels of all different sizes and capacities. It is important that these marine pumps, no matter what size or style they are, be installed correctly and safely. In fact, the laws state that it is the law in many areas. Unfortunately, despite those laws, there are still many places that do not have these devices installed like they should.

There are mainly three types of options that owner operators can choose from when it comes to a marine pump for their marina. There are basic systems that assess demand, mid range facilities that can be upgraded if necessary, and high specification systems that are capable of handling massive amounts of use. Even though many of the operators and owners of docks and their waters might have an adequate system installed, they need to make sure that they are in designated areas and installed according to local, state and federal codes. Unfortunately though, some owners do not install anything at

all until they are forced to do so by legislation.

There is a huge number of marinas that have no marine pumps at all installed , but the pressure of the law on operators to have these systems is increasing. Those that do have these devices installed often have systems that are broken, ill maintained and in disrepair. Local authorities who search for possible revenue from improved facilities and customers who are demanding better facilities for cleaner environments are all part of the group that is putting pressure on those marina owners to provide better marine pumps.

Even though many places offer docks that are well equipped with telephones, electricity, gas, fuel, and clean fresh water, until recently the attention paid to marine pumps had been scarce. New movements and pressure from governments as well as from those demanding a cleaner environment has changed that though, increasing awareness of the importance of these devices and opening the door to increase the availability of devices for boat sewage disposal systems. If a vessel is anywhere within three miles of the United States coast, it is mandatory that they use holding tanks for their waste. When those vessels come to shore at dock, they need a place to safely and responsibly dispose of that waste, which is where marina pumps come into play.
