When a substance from its solid or liquid form is transformed to a vapor form by using heat, the process is called vaporization. There are two types of vaporization; boiling and evaporation. Physical destruction of a substance that takes place under the boiling temperature of the substance is called evaporation. When the substance vaporizes at a temperature above the boiling point of the substance it is called boiling.

In vaporization the substance is not burned. Here the chemicals and the ingredients of the substance break down in simpler molecules in the form of vapor or mist. When you burn a substance, you are actually breaking the molecular structure of the substance by using heat as a catalyst leading to a process called pyrolysis. Pyrolysis is considered an extremely bad side effect of smoking where you directly burn the substance to inhale it.

Because of this breaking down during burning, chemicals combine with air to form harmful oxides and compounds that can have adverse effect on your body. Smoke, tar, toxins are formed as a result of smoking a substance directly in the form of a cigarette or in a pipe because of pyrolysis which has negative effects. The chemical modification of the substance in case of vaporization where you pass on heat to enhance the transformation of the substance in to vapor form is gradual and does not lead to formation of complex compounds. There is almost no chance of any oxide formation as the substance does not burn in presence of air

but is rather chemically broken down by using heat.

In vaporization, generally the combustion temperature for the substance is never reached and there is no chance of pyrolysis occurring. You get the pure ingredients in the form of mist and fume that you inhale. The vaporization process that features rapid extraction and then delivery in the form of inhalation (you can even combine it by passing it through ice/water) gives really clean air good for medicinal and aroma therapeutic purposes. The added moisture in the vapor increases biological activities with minimal impact. Vaporization also allows better titration. Rapid onset of the effect of the substance due to immediate delivery in to the blood stream is considered to be one of the biggest advantages of vaporization over smoking. However remember that the effect of vaporization varies from vaporizer to vaporizer.

The purer and more concentrated form of the substance is formed during vaporization and hence less substance can generate more effect. You can also avoid the dangers of contamination through needles if you were to inject medicinal cannabis.

Health benefits of vaporization are plenty. Simple inhalation of steam cleanses our nasal passage and reduces the congestion of the chest. Most vaporizers these days come with digital displays helping you calibrate the temperature and vapor release to exact precision. There are plug-in vaporizers that you can use on the go; all you need is a standard wall socket. Today the market is full of different types of vaporizers, choose one that suits you the most.
