Even since 1979, rap or hip hop music always had to fight for itself. People thought that this kind of genre was there just for a short period of time and will die after a couple of years. These people were entirely wrong. This genre continued to flourish in the years that came and was never far from being the best selling genre out there. Hip hop was also a large influencer or shaper for fashion, pop culture and art. People around the world saw hip hop as a new trend. But even if this genre is kind of losing its touch these days, the creativity and experimenting in the genre once again resurfaces.

The producers in this genre are responsible for the beats and tracks that you hear. Hip hop producers or those who want to fiddle around with any beat software should keep a few things in mind:

Drums are a necessity to hip hop:

You cannot have a hip hop track without drums. Using snares which do not sound enough or are weak is not advisable. If you want your beat or track to be perfect, find the most authentic-sounding one you can look for out there. Your snare sound should snap and cut through the beat and force your listeners to nod their heads. The first step you should take is making sure

that the drums in your track sound perfect.

Stop using the siren:

If you think that hip hop beats and tracks need the siren, then you are extremely wrong. If it sounded out of this world back then, now it is just plain annoying. It is noisy, obtrusive and loud and it adds nothing to any track or beat. If someone you know convinces you that your track needs the siren, do not, in any case, listen to him/her when she tries to help you working on your beat software.

Know when enough is enough:

While overproduction may seem like a new development, a lot of producers indulge in this and it is not good. Sometimes, they overproduce beats or they add too much. For example, they think the beat needs the synthetics, then the vocals, then the orchestra, and with all that, they think the track still needs a couple of hand clasps. You need to remember that in some cases, less is indeed, more. The perfect testimonial of this is the best selling beats which have only minimalistic additions. But this does not mean that the tracls you need to make in your beat software are simple beats. The only thing you need to keep in mind is that you do not need every single sound you have on every beat you produce.
