Finding out how to become greener has never been easier with the Internet. There is a vast wealth of information available to let you know how to become green.

The good news is that being green and environmentally friendly can be a money saver too. You get to save the planet and save cash, it's a win-win situation for all of us.

Saving money and being greener are often seen as incompatible but that is not really true, okay, sometimes a greener option is a little more expensive, say in the organic food market but there are so many more ways to help out the world.

Do you drive? If every time you got into your car you asked yourself,"Do I need to drive?" you may be quietly surprised at how many times the answer could be "No."

Leaving the car at home and walking to the store or using a bicycle not only saves you money on gas and tyre wear but it will help you stay slim too. You may find that after that gentle bit of exercise that you don't really fancy that donut anymore.

If you do have to drive try to remember that a car engine runs more efficiently at around fifty five mile per hour, efficiency equals money saved! Avoid accelerating sharply, instead gently cruise up to speed using the gearbox smoothly and keep your eyes a little further up the road, it will allow you to gauge the conditions and prevent having to brake suddenly and sharply.

These two simple tips can easily save you a few hundred dollars on fuel and maintenance

costs for your car and reduce your carbon footprint significantly.

At home there are hundreds of small ways to save money on energy costs and become a bit greener at the same time. Cell phone charger always plugged in? take it out and save some electricity, television left on standby? Turn it off, some televisions consume almost as much power on standby as when they are turned on so turn it off.

Doing the laundry can be made a lot cheaper by using detergents that work at fifteen degrees, they clean your washing just as well but you are not paying to heat up water which is going down the drain in an hour.

Take a little time to hang out your laundry if you can. Using a tumble dryer is very costly in electricity consumption, let wind power dry your washing. You do not have to buy those expensive little tumble fresh sheets either, another saving!

My personal crusade is bottled water. Do you buy it? and if you answered "Yes" I ask you very loudly, "WHY?" The western world is fortunate to have some of the best, healthiest and safest drinking water in the world. It comes out of the faucet in your kitchen and you are paying for it. Why, then do you feel the need to go and buy more?

Billions of silly little plastic bottles are sold, used and thrown away every year because some stupid TV commercial says you should drink bottled water. 95% of those little bottles end up in landfills, stuck in hedges or choking up the oceans for human vanity.
