These tears moisten the eye and facilitate avoiding infection. A healthy tear film depends on a fragile balance of two layers. A thin outside oily layer reduces the loss of tears. Underneath the outer oily layer is a watery layer recognised as the aqueous layer, which makes up the majority of the tear film. This assists in rinsing and cleaning the front surface of the eye.
Once the customary tear film breaks down, the eye begins to dry out. This will result in burning and watery eyes. The four fundamental causes for dry eye:

Lubricating drops are the conventional application for dry eyes. They help but reprieve does not last long and occasionally there are allergic reactions to the preservatives in the drops.
2. Punctal plugs are positioned in the tear drainage duct. They avert tears from draining away. This is a simple procedure, taking only a few minutes and creating substantial improvement for numerous individuals with dry eyes.
3. An anti-inflammatory medication can be prescribed by an eye care physician. This medication actively restrains the inflammatory response rather than inertly lubricating the ocular exterior.
In cases where dry eyes have lasted more than a few days, you optometrist should be consulted. Dry eye can be an indicator of more serious medical problems when it continues for an extended period of time. Rather than risk long term or permanent damage, have regular check-ups and see your eye doctor when your eyes do not function as they should. In this instance, it is much better to be safe than sorry.
