So which water filter systems are not expensive and are not complicated? Your best bet for water filter systems is carbon filtration. Dangerous contaminants are bound to the carbon filters in these systems chemically and physically, removing them from the water as it streams through that filter. An added bonus is that these water filter systems are almost always much cheaper than the reverse osmosis systems are.
