For it seems a long time now, online gaming safety has been a concern for many parents across this great nation that we call the United States of America and also for the many that also have these gaming consoles in their homes abroad. There are many different loopholes in the software and every week they are releasing updates and doing the absolute most to keep personal information safe and secure but does not seem to work all the time. There are new threats that happen hourly here in the States and abroad, where many of these threats are occurring.

There is a Federal Trade Commission that has a Childrens Trade Commission or COPPA that has power to help and create starts in the lawmaking efforts that has to take effect to change the way online gaming is played and the security that will be involved. There are many different tools that can be downloaded and implemented with some of the other security measures that the gaming console and your computer network look for to block incoming threats and increase online gaming safety. There also has been a push towards parents getting educated to the security threats that are real and blocked every day from your computer.

We all know that the younger members of

our families cannot fully comprehend the predators that are lurking online and we as parents have a duty to teach them the dangers and how to practice safe sites and safe techniques that should be followed each day. Parents do not want to scare away their children from telling them if something is really wrong and there needs to be honesty involved in the talk you need to have with your children about online gaming safety. One thing to remember is that children have very short attention spans that keep them engaged for less than a few minutes. The talk or discussion needs to be short and sweet with what is expected.

One of the best tips that every parent can give to their kids to keep them away from the lures of predators is to never ever give out their names, address, and phone number, the name of their school or any other private and personal information. This is important even if the child thinks that they really know someone on the Internet, even if they feel like they are comfortable with them. Online gaming safety starts with the parents, so be sure that you know what you need to do as a parent to keep your child out of harms way.
