You will need to learn how to use it by creating a profile of your own and studying the settings and the many options to keep things like personal information private and safe. On these sites there are some that lie about who they are and what age that they really are. There is a way on these social networking sites to have people that are not known make it so that they cannot search for you. This feature should be set for any child that is under the age that he or she can make
good decisions and have been taught how to practice Internet safety.
There are some first steps to take to overall keep children safe and that is to keep all photos of them private and to tag the ones that do go to friends and family. This will let you know if the photo goes somewhere other than the recipient and outsiders to actually look at the photo without a password. Another key ingredient is very important and that is to teach your kids that they are not to post what they are doing for the night and where they might be.
Predators have an ability to find and prey on the unsuspecting in this way when there is not Internet safety being practiced. Although it may be sometimes difficult, children need to do their best to ignore rude or harassing comments that friends and others put on their blog or website in fact, they can set their security settings so that only friends are allowed to post comments and even the content can be filtered. Most of all, in order to maintain Internet safety, teens should absolutely never post anything that others might think they can manipulate to get an edge in talking to them, this includes racy photos of themselves or even others because it might do the same to them.
