To be a member of a union you will need to pay an initial fee to join and then pay monthly dues which are taken directly form your paycheck. These days most professional plumbers belong to their area union. If you decide to be part of your area union you will need to contact then and put in an application for an apprenticeship.
Plumbing Apprentices
An apprenticeship is required of all new plumbers. If your application for an apprenticeship is one of the approximate 5% which is accepted annually for such a program you will be required to work hard to learn this trade.
