To add beauty and unique style to any room in the house, tiles can be a creative and eye appealing addition to any home. However, they do not come without their own particular problems as well as solutions. Here are some hints on how to deal with these problems while tile cleaning.
There are two different tile types (basically). There are the unglazed tiles and then glazed tiles. Most people, especially those who lead a busy life will have the glazed tiles because of the easier care for them. Now wonder that many homeowners from urban Los Angeles, Phoenix, Charlotte or New York prefer such.
There are many different styles and they are very easy to clean.
A huge problem with either of these tile types is the scratching of the tiles. Scratches are a huge pain while tile cleaning because the dirt will get into the scratch and becomes hard to remove. This is when a pretty floor can get a little ugly. It can distort color and appearance. Tiles, especially ones in the middle of a floor, are not easily removed and scratches are not easy to fix with perfect coloring.
Most scratches come from improper cleaning of the tiles (as long as they are being taken care of otherwise). So it is important to know how to clean the tiles so that they are not ruined from home care. While tile cleaning, it is important that proper cleaning take place. Don't use any type of a vacuum with a bar beater on it, or any huge machines that would be used to clean carpet as they will definitely ruin the tiles.
Another common problem that residents find while tile cleaning is the soap scum.
This scum comes from the talc in the kind of soap that's being used. So if this problem exists while you are tile cleaning, an easy fix is to cover the affected area with a laundry detergent. Let it sit for at least an hour, going into several hours. Then a sponge can be used to clean the mess with a little bit of warm water.
The next problem that may be found with cleaning tiles is the mold and mildew. This can be easily remedied by making a solution of half water and half bleach. Put this mixture into any kind of a bottle that can have a spray head added onto it and apply it to the entire stained area. After about a half an hour, it can be sprayed off with warm water and then wiped clean. The problem should be removed almost instantly but it it's not using any kind of a scrubbing brush will help as well.
A good thing to note when cleaning tiles (and when doing all of your other cleaning)is that you should NEVER mix ammonia and bleach together. This is extremely dangerous and should not be attempted. Since both of these ingredients can be used to fix problems with tiles it is best to make sure they are never used together. Also, with tile floors it is best not to use too much bleach as it may do damage to the joints (grout).
Tile cleaning is easy and can be relatively fun because of all the difference you can see while cleaning. If you keep your tiles free from scratches, scum and mold, their beauty will be very long lasting and their maintenance very minimal.
