Anyone who has allergies or asthma will vouch for the fact that furniture can be an allergen trap. Especially anything that is upholstered. In the midst of the humid summers (which you have to watch out especially if you reside in a city like Charlotte, North Carolina) many people with allergies and asthma must seek inside comfort as the thick air can be hard to breathe in. This is when it is especially important to get upholstery cleaning.

Most professionals will recommend that upholstery be cleaned at least once a month. Although upholstery cleaning may not need to be that excessive, it never hurts. The problem with upholstery is that the dust will sit a top of it and settle into the fabric. This is why one of the great ways of upholstery cleaning is simply vacuuming your upholstered furniture. The only problem with this technique is that a lot of times vacuums will stir up dust and that which escapes will only resettle after all of the commotion is over. Also, do not use the vacuum on anything that is filled with dust as it may bring the down out of the item and ruin it completely.

Places in upholstery that usually get the dirtiest are the arms and the head rests. These places get dirty because of oily hair and dirty hands. There is always something for the kinds to get their hands on while playing inside and out. The best way to take care of these two problem areas is to get covers for the arm rests and the head rest. These items can be easily cleaned

by throwing them into the washer or dryer and all of a sudden the hassle of upholstery cleaning has become easier. You can find many of these head rests and arm rests in a variety of store in a variety of colors.

While upholstery cleaning, residents may find they want to use a commercial cleaner for the deep cleaning of their furniture. However, if you wish to make your own cleaner all you need is a quarter of a cup of liquid dish detergent and one cup of water (warm). Mix the two together until it is sudsy and begin lightly scrubbing your furniture. As with anything that you're cleaning make sure no matter what kind of cleaner you use that it is tested on a very small part of the upholstery first, so that you can assure it will not damage your furniture.

When upholstery cleaning, it is important to remember that you should not get your furniture sopping wet. It should stay as dry as possible or there might be even more damage created. To help and keep the furniture dry while you are cleaning it, use a small fan to blow on it. You can even turn up the air conditioner. This can be very helpful in keeping the furniture dry. Upholstery cleaning will be easy as long as the basic maintenance is kept up regularly. Remember to take care of stains as soon as they appear (using a cleaner or the dish soap and water) and give the upholstery a nice vacuum cleaning on those humid summer months when people may be inside using them more.
