Trinidad & Tobago are one of the most sought after tourist destinations. They are located at the most southerly end of the Caribbean Islands within a few miles off the Venezuela Coast. Of the two Trinidad reflects the multi-ethnicity of the cultures in its full glory. Prior to the country becoming independent, labor from India and Africa were brought in mass numbers to work on the numerous sugar plantations. The people who migrated from all these countries settled there and adopted the life of the island.

This is clearly reflected in the music, art form, food and the cultural and religious traditions of the people in Trinidad. It is also a paradise for the tourists who come here in search of fun and joy. The inherent warmth and hospitality of the people make this island a popular hot spot for the tourists. One of the most mesmerizing attractions of the place is the Carnival which is attended by a large number of people from all parts of the globe. This fun-loving lifestyle is more clearly manifested in Trinidad as compared to the more laid back Tobago.

Music has always been an integral part of the Carnival celebrations and truly depicts the island culture. The main type of music which has consistently developed on the island is in the form of Calypso, Soca and other musical styles which have a really made its mark on the island population.

Tobago, on the other hand, is a peaceful and beautiful place which is made up of forests, volcanic hills, numerous pristine beaches and coral reefs. This has helped it in growing as a tourist destination. There is a great variety of hotels and guest houses on

the island which suits everyone's tastes and budget preference. There is a large scope for outdoor and water activities like scuba diving, snorkeling, hiking and bird watching.

Both the islands, though very diverse in history and culture, are united politically. The two islands did not have much scope for mining but they definitely took advantage of the oil reserves that they do possess. For years, the economy of the two islands was limited to agriculture and manufacturing and now a small portion is contributed by the tourism industry.
There are numerous lodging options on the islands which are occupied by nearly 200 thousand tourists each year and that too during the Carnival.

Culinary Culture in Trinidad & Tobago:
The two islands of Trinidad & Tobago have a strong impact of the various cultures that took root here. They cuisine of the region also reflects the diversity and the richness of all the different cultures. It lends a definite zing to the local cuisine and blends it perfectly with the international style.

People from all parts of the globe, especially from the countries like India, China, Africa and Europe feel very comfortable while trying out the various delicacies here. The islands have had a deep impact of the Indian style of cooking which is the most predominant one in the area. Spicy curry dishes are an all time favorite at both the places. Spanish cuisines are also very popular among the locals. The impact of this culture is visible in the food that is prepared and also on the eating habits of the people.

Though the two islands are different in their lifestyles and resources, yet they share the same political thought and stay united.
