Santa Fe is well renowned as the 'City Different' because it offers a range of marvelous and distinguishing attractions to its guests with a range of entertaining activities, mouth watering world class dining and colorful festivals. Everything is available at this one place to amuse and entertain you. This is one of the liveliest cities of United States and hence it is chosen as the best place to live and work. The city of Santa Fe is one of the oldest cities of United States. It is the capital of the state of New Mexico. According to 2000 census, the population of the city was 62,203 making it the fourth largest city in the state. The city enjoys the status of being the county seat of Santa Fe County.

Santa Fe exhibits a rich history that will take back to the yesteryears of 1050 to 1150. Initially, the area was inhabited by Pueblo Indian villages. This area was explored by Francisco Vaisquez de Coronado and established its settlement in 1515. In the year 1598, the very first Spanish colony was established in the northern part of New Mexico. During Spanish rule, the town had become the center of mission work and exploration.

There always remained some conflicts between Native Americans and Spanish settlers. Sometimes the conflicts became violent, in one such incident in 1680 several Spanish settlers were killed and remaining survivors fled to El Paso del Norte. Grabbing the



opportunity, the Native Americans established their settlement occupying several prominent and significant buildings.
The most prominent and marvelous attractions in the city that are drawing tourist from all over the world include Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument, Jackalope, The Santa Fe Plaza, Georgia O'Keeffe Museum, Saint Francis Cathedral etc. These attractions will never allow their guests to get bored in the city.

There are numerous attractions in the world that exhibit fascinating and distinguishing characters. Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument is one such destination that will certainly take you to another world. This magnificent site is located just above the luxuriant valley floor. The meaning of the word Kasha-Katuwe means 'white cliffs' and it is derived from Keresan language.

If shopping is what makes you feel crazy and excited, then Jacklope is not to miss place for you. Jacklope is one of the major attractions for the tourists visiting the city all round the year as it offers an out of this world shopping experience.

The Santa Fe Plaza is another must visit and marvelous attraction in the city. One can guess the significance of the site that it has grabbed the designation of National Historic Landmark. This plaza includes central park that is ideally decorated with properly lined trees, benches and well trimmed grass. The best time to watch the plaza is during festivals, especially during Christmas time.At this time, entire Plaza streets and buildings light up with farolitos and luminaria. This plaza also holds several events such as Children's New Years Eve Party, The Arts and Crafts Festival and many more.
