Jamshedpur is one of the oldest planned cities of India founded by Jamshedji Nusserwanji Tata. The city has acquired the position of an important business and industrial city of Jharkhand State. It is located in the Eastern part of Singhbhum district on Chota Nagpur plateau. The city was named after Tata Steel's founder, in order to pay tributes to this legendry industrialist in 1919.
